This year has been pretty terrible for me on the personal front. These personal issues have drastically reduced my motivation to get any writing done, which is why I’ve been so hit or miss on doing the blog.

Normally, I don’t get into personal issues on the blog, but it’s affected me so much I think I owe anyone who actually follows me an explanation. First, late last year I got a divorce from my wife of 20 years. That’s been rough, but the worst was this week when my oldest and dearest friend passed away from complications of the flu. She was truly one of the inspirations for me in life.

These two events have crippled my ability to concentrate or be creative for any length of time. While I’m sure I’ll be able to work through it, right now I’m just struggling to put one foot in front of the other.
