Have you ever decided to do something that you thought you knew how to do, then found that you had no idea? That’s what it’s like to edit a novel! The funny thing is that I’ve gone through and edited this thing twice already. Once you get your novel to an editor (and if you are looking to publish a novel, you should), you get an almost infinite number of changes you get to make. The great thing is you don’t have to make any of them. But if you don’t make any of them, why did you hire the editor in the first place?
It’s much more difficult to do this than I ever thought it would be. I’m looking to completely rewrite (at least) two chapters. The changes are good ones, but it is taking so much time! At the same time, I’m in the process of do my initial edits for Illusion of Truth, which is taking forever as well. On top of that, I’m planning my third book. Oh, and be an engineer, husband, and father, not necessarily in that order.
It’s been a great experience, and I know that it will make my books better.
