I am over 70% done editing Illusion of Truth as of this evening (71.2% to be exact). I think I’m still on track to get it out in July. Once I’m through the edits, I’ll need to proofread it, which takes longer than you would think. I also need a cover, but I need the edited draft before I can do that, since the page count changes the cover (the spine is an important dimension). Sometimes, I add or delete a significant amount during editing. So, a lot of work before July is over.
On top of that, I am through phase 4 for my short story, The Invisible. In my process, a short story has 14 steps to publication (novels have 15), so I’m still early in the stages. Phase 5 involves putting complete character sheets together for all the main characters, so that takes some time. Once I have that, I’ll be putting together my scene list. Hopefully, that won’t take that long, since the entire story is only supposed to be about 10,000 words. Once I have that, I’ll be drafting. I do somewhere around 2000 words a day when I write my first draft, so about a week. It’s due on September 1, which is coming fast.
On top of that, I’m trying to keep up with the web site. There is an enormous amount of spam attacks a site like this will receive in the comments. Since I’m a one man outfit, it takes a little bit to weed through those. Unfortunately, I don’t have much traffic, yet, but that does make it easier to know if someone really posted something. If you put a comment up and it isn’t there, I apologize. I thought you were a bot. Put the comment on one of the other posts and it will look more real to me and my web host.
I’ve been unable to put up any more world information, but I’ll do an update mid-week. With all the writing I’m doing, I haven’t really had much of a chance to do any world building on the site. If there is something specific you’d like up, let me know.
As always, thanks for all the support!
