Blog and Site Updates

It has been quite a while since I have regularly posted on the web site. This is primarily because I did not have any inspiration for new worldbuilding ideas that I thought would be interesting to write about. I also got divorced, had some personal issues, and had some more personal issues with a sprinkling of personal issues, which got in the way of my writing. So, I want to share an update on where I am with everything right now.

Book 3 of the Blake Heira series is in process of being edited. It is called Corruption of Blood. Blake has his hands full when a murder victim if found drained of blood with two punctures in her neck. Fearing a vampire is on the loose, Blake turns to the Church of Myril, destroyer of the forces of darkness, and specifically the Order of the Ankh, a sect devoted to destroying the undead. It’s a race against time before more vampires are spawned in the city. I can’t wait for people to read it.

For the web site, I have recently stumbled on an idea of doing solo roleplaying and blogging about it. This thread would be in addition to worldbuilding ideas that I want to write about. In order to get this up and running, I’m going to do what I probably should have done years ago and set up a regular schedule for the site.

So, from now on, I’m going to do my solo roleplaying posts on Tuesdays. On every other Thursday, I will be posting either a writing update from one of my projects or a worldbuilding article. We’ll see how that goes for now. Because with my novels in varying stages of development and writing two different fantasy settings for two different roleplaying games, what I really need is a new writing project.

Speaking of roleplaying worlds, I have been hoping to post The World of Spheryl on this site since its inception. The problem was that I do not think that the quality of the work was sufficient to allow for people to read about, or be able to play on, the world as I had it written. Pretty much everything I have is snippets, memories, and notes. The hope was that trying to put the world online would help me to organize everything. That obviously hasn’t happened. However, I’ve been inspired not only by my friends, but some of the world books for the Pathfinder system to give this another try. I’m going to have to divide things between Podio and Meera, as they are separated to the extent that they don’t know about each other, I’m using different systems for each of them, and they have drastically different feels. There will be some similarities between the two of them, however, which will become clear as I post things for them.

So, I have a lot of work cut out for me. I’m hoping that this will be fun for me and you who read this. Let me know what you think in the comment section. See you next week!

As of right now, I have two settings for my world. The setting the Blake Heira novels take place in is the continent of Podio in the country of Myos. That continent has over 50 countries, some of which are referenced in my novels. For example, Shenay is originally from Tartha, a country in the southern jungles. This setting is designed to be played using the HERO system (www.herogames.com). It is a moderately low magic area, where magical items are very rare. I have been running that setting for over 30 years. The other is a continent called Meera, which was created many years ago during one of my early world building exercises. Until now, I haven’t done much with Meera, but I’ve decided to change that. Meera is a high fantasy setting with lots of magic. For that part of the world, I’m using the Pathfinder system (www.paizo.com). This continent is massive and will have over 70 countries on it. That’s over 120 countries for me to create, write up, and organize. That will be a massive undertaking, but I’ve been working on doing something like this for my entire adult life. The hope is that as I create these countries and settings, I will post them here for others to read, either for inspiration or to incorporate into their games.
